It can’t possibly be that we have too many cars, or that all of the cars we all have are old and crappy. No, I am sure that’s not it. Although, how would I know? None of us has ever had a new car. Never. I wouldn’t know what to do with all of those bells and whistles, all of the actual performance and functionality. I drove a sort of new car a few years ago, it was like sitting down at the control panel of the Starship Enterprise. How very frightening. All I wanted to do was adjust the side view mirror (so I could back up without crashing into someone), I couldn’t figure out which buttons to push, which knobs to twiddle. Then, magically, it adjusted it self! Eeek. No thanks. I will just stick with my ‘73 Super Beetle. Although, two days ago it decided that stopping was no longer something it needed to do. I got in and, voila! No brakes. How do these things just happen over night? I had brakes the day before! Where do they go? Now it’s in the shop. I have to sit at home. It will cost us more money that we don’t have. And I am in a panic thinking about how wrong everything is going to be while they fix it smack dab in the middle of this retrograde phase. Nothing is ever easy, and then more bills come in the mail.
