Different and Now

As I’ve been embracing this “change is fine” attitude lately (or, ya know, making a grand attempt), I have also been wondering what ELSE will be turning itself around.  I mean, jeez, what’s next, I’m getting up in the actual morning?

Not likely, but who can say?  Would I have imagined that I tolerated autumn so well and looked forward to Sundays?  Nope, not things I saw coming.  So, that’s where my mind has been, as we grow closer to October leaving, and pre-winter moving in.

Here is a piece I came across (in one of my almanacs), and felt the need to share:

“This season is rich with its wisdom.  We can take the time to honor our traditions, acknowledge our ancestors.  We can finally put to rest all that which keeps us small and scared.  We can allow the stillness within to seek our next true direction.  Releasing all our preconceptions and expectation of what should be, what do we truly wish to bring forth in the next cycle?”

The Universe would like us to feel immersed in the here and now; it suits us best when we remember that hanging on too tightly is simply another way of suffocating.

Here’s what I keep hearing, here’s where we can aim our focus:

set loose

These Letting Go lessons, with their implied freedom, can be so difficult.  Especially for those of us who are much better at holding on.  But to release our grip, to allow a loosening of the bonds and constrictions, is to grant life, to offer space, to open up and let in the new opportunities.

When we consent to growth and expansion, while honouring where we’ve been, we are better suited to living here, in this moment.  Because this moment, this place and time, is a gift.  If we don’t stop and acknowledge it, we miss out, on this one, and the next one, and potentially the one after that.

Today’s Gratitude:

is for my parents.  We went for a visit this evening.  And it was lovely.  We shared some family pictures, as well as a few images they might never see, what with their complete lack of internet access and experience.

Here is one of their favorites.

Joy Now, and Every Day

Many religions and spiritual belief systems talk about beginning each morning with prayer or meditation or some sort of Honour/Blessing.  I am a huge fan of this practice, and I try very hard to incorporate it on a regular basis.

Sadly, waking up is a challenge for me.  Whether by alarm, on my own, or with the help of a person, none of these methods work well, nor are they easy.  I’ve been this way my entire life.

Today, because I was called to Jury Duty, it was even MORE tragic than usual.  Our group was released before one p.m.  I was able to catch a nap/go back to bed, in an attempt to reset my internal clock and to finish last night’s sleeping.

When I got up (the second time), I was reminded of this:

Divine Timing

As you may recall, Time and I have a restless and prickly relationship.  We bicker.  We tussle.  We hardly ever agree.  Time has a way of always moving, and I’m a person who sits down a lot.

While I fully believe that everything truly does happen for the reasons we originally mapped out, I also know that Free Will, and the general shit-show which is our complicated existence here, play in to this equation, and along its corresponding time-line.  There are too many factors throughout our Journey for us to count, our tiny human brain can’t math them all.

Another Universal Truth is that we can improve ourselves and our situation/emotional position in extremely simple ways.  We don’t HAVE to count all of the things.  We can merely allow the Divine Timing to flow, taking its natural course.

This particular messenger, the one who has come to help us with validation and to act as a guide, is one who speaks of my favorite option, that of choosing Joy.  That of going with the highest best choice for all involved.

red goddess

“Lalita

The Red Goddess

‘Playfulness is a spiritual power.

Laughter leads me back to the light.’

Who She Is:

Lalita represents the spontaneity which graces a heavy moment and reminds us that joy is a powerful spiritual practice.

Lalita Tripura Sundari is a Hindu deity known as the red goddess because of her connection to desire.  She is often depicted sitting on a lotus with 16 petals known as the ‘fulfiller of all desires.’

She is holding a golden bow, which represents the mind, and five golden arrows, which represent the five senses.

Lalita is known for her spontaneity and for liberating her devotees with joy.  She’s the consciousness that comes when we get so caught up in taking ourselves seriously, causing us to forget the (profound) simple pleasures like a breeze on our face or the taste of sun-ripened fruit.

She reminds us that we don’t have to be perfect ….. what’s divine is inherent to us, it’s remembered, not learned.

When Your Soul Selects Her Card:

Answers arrive from disengaging with the energy which created the problem or question to begin with.  We so often hold tight to what we desire with a grip that actually inhibits it from arriving.

The secret to desire is holding it lightly.  The secret which the red goddess knows is that we already have everything we desire.  So we can trust that what the soul craves is and always has been ours.

This is the levity which sparks a shift, a change, an expansion – that is the moment where we remember we are not separate from what we desire, nor from the divine.

Lalita is the levity which comes when we loosen our death-like grip on what we desire.  She’s the much needed reminder that we don’t have to suffer our way to what we want most.

The path to what we desire and to becoming the soul we need to be in order to receive it can be paved with joy, with divine play, and with a sacred process of lightening up all along the way.

Soul-Voice Intention:

How can I add more playfulness to my life right now?

Intention:

Playfulness is a spiritual power.

Laughing leads me back to the light.”

Pleasing and Beneficial

Have you ever heard this saying?  “Life is short.  Take the trip, buy the shoes, eat the cake.”

I’ve been seeing it around (most recently on a t-shirt).  It absolutely rings true with what I’m hearing lately.

As in.  When we “Choose Joy” we are actively making the choice to

enjoy!

We are intentionally seeking out what brings us happiness, what feeds our soul, and what helps us to be better.  From the inside out.

It goes back to Self Care, and the need to nurture ourselves.  Eat the cake!  Not for a “cheat” but for ourselves.  (And if cake’s not your thing, pick something that does it for you.)

In some ways, it’s sort of true that life is short.  According to the divine measurement of the Universe, there actually is no time.  But wearing these bodies and making this exact journey, a lifetime is not long, in comparison.

When we deprive ourselves, or when we apply a negative filter, we are the ones who suffer.   Which then causes a ripple effect, out into the lives of our loved ones.  And no one wants to hurt those we care about.

In true and perfect form, our validation comes from the deck which suits our message the very best.

Today’s Personal Sharing:

is the story of a pair of boots.  I saw them in a window, (over 35 years ago).  I wanted them with a painful and sharp longing.  I loved them like nothing I had ever seen before.

I passed them by.  I came back another day, still denying myself.  I went to visit them, needing them.  I probably could have afforded them, but I thought, at the time, they were a bit too much, and I was a bit not enough.

To this day, I wish I had bought those boots.  I’ve never seen another pair like them.  I still wish I had chosen me, chosen the boots, chosen joy.

Repair, restore, rebuild.

This week marks my ten year blogaversary.  I began here, a decade ago, to make sense of my sister’s death.  As a place for thoughts, feelings, and later, messages.

It has served that purpose, plus so much more.  I have no plans to stop showing up, whether I have readers or not (although, I truly hope I do).  It’s worth my time to sit down, contemplate, type, and ultimately, share.

My mother told me once, at a major turning point in her life, that she felt the perfect imagery (she could see it clearly in her mind’s eye), was the slow changing of a page, the folding flip of paper, as it turned over, marking the end of one chapter, beginning of another.

I feel that now, as we transition into a new week, a new month, a new year, and no doubt, a new decade.  I hear the Universe tell us that this movement, this marking of time is

healing.

The recovery and restoration has begun.  We may now go forward, wounded and wearing our scars proudly.  We may move on to the next chapter, the next path.

We have learned, we have grown, and we have traveled so very far.  We are always better for surviving.  And if all we did was make it through this particular day, well, that is an accomplishment.  One we won’t diminish.

Thank you, for taking this trip with me.  I appreciate you, and treasure your presence.

healing
May we all find peace.

May we all heal.

Hills and Valleys, Ins and Outs

Some days are simply more challenging than others.  I hit a rough patch this week (several, actually).  The dates next week (and the ones right after) won’t help get me past that.

What HAS been encouraging and uplifting, is my family. I truly hope that wherever you are, whoever you are, you have the kind of support I do.  If you do not?  Contact me, I’ll send you a virtual hug and we can chat.

As I said in our last post, I’m very fortunate to have someone who picks me up when I stumble.  We also have three incredibly brilliant and kind (adult) children.  As a bonus, I have a mom and dad who adore me and are just up the highway.

When we are struggling, as I have been lately, it’s helpful to go within, to see what messages our Team has for us.  As if in total validation, this card came up.  It is the entire message right now.

Well, that and a reminder.  Focus on the haves, leave those have-nots for someone else to worry about.
