Standing Strong, Holding On

Somewhere here, amongst our many boxes of cards and stacks of decks, there’s one which says, “don’t give up before your miracle occurs” or a similar sentiment.

This idea has been on my mind lately, as I work every day at not losing faith.  (Faith over fear, faith over fear, faithoverfear!)

I know that everything happens just when it needs to happen; I know that we are right where we should be; I am not floundering, there is no fear.

But, still.  The doubts can creep in.  Stealthy and silent.  They erode our sense of stability.  They rot our foundations.

Truthfully, I am not in a panic, nor am I currently freaking out.  The nagging, back of my mind feeling though, it’s

Kinda Edgy.

In order to regain our equilibrium, and banish the creeping dread; to breathe through our stress, we’re being reminded of how important Self-Care always is.

Whether it’s that Quick 3 Minutes we just reach out and cling to, wrestling it from our already overpacked day, or a full afternoon off, with no errands, no chores, no tasks to complete.   Take what is ours, that’s the key.

It is never selfish to honour our own needs.  It is always healthy for us to be well, so that we can care for others.

In order to validate our message to its fullest, I was directed to preciously the proper place.

is to show you where I go, when I’m not here.  For those who might be curious, here’s the “day” job website.

As you look at those views of my Front Desk, keep in mind, I was sitting just out of camera-range, chatting with the photographer (when my phone wasn’t ringing, that is).  The only shot which wasn’t taken in our building is the smiley lady and her dog.

Primarily

We’re getting this message right now because it is, clearly, very important.  Some of us have been experiencing our recent retrograde phase more intensely than past occurrences.  (Partly due to many of us being the extra-sensitive types?  Probably.)

When that happens, well, it’s just time to retreat.  (If we could go TO A retreat, that would be best, but of course, most of us can’t.)

Here’s the exact wording, as I was made aware of it:

. . . . the importance of Self-Care.

Our “quick three minutes” – remember that?  It needs to be done every day, or even more than once a day if we can manage.

The Universe is reminding us that we can’t take care of anybody if we, ourselves, are not taken care of.  And who best to do that?  Us.

If we can afford to be pampered, awesome.  If we have to carve out those precious few moments on our own, to maybe just stand in a closet, or hide in the bathroom, or wait in a parking lot, then we grab our Me Time that way.  The point is, take it!

You don’t need someone to make recommendations, you KNOW what you like and what helps.  I can only say what works in my case.  And, what works for me on regular days doesn’t always work for me on depression days.  (Lately, there has been an imbalance, and it’s not in the “good” direction.)

When we make sure that Self-Care is a priority, we ensure that we are coming from a place of comfort.  We all need that sacred place, that sanctuary, whether it is a physical destination or not.

Let me say that again, we NEED this!  It’s non-negotiable.  It’s a basic necessity, like air and water and food.  Care, it’s what keeps us going and what feeds our soul.

To show us how truly valuable our wellness is in the grand panoramic view of life is the current card on our altar.

friends and family
6 of Cups

When I first started reading the Tarot (a gazillion years ago), I named this one Friends And Family, for the obvious reasons.  But it’s also about our inner-child, and about our support system.

The scene is idyllic.  The image a pleasure to view.  And the feelings it brings up are generally happy ones.  (At least, that’s the hope.)

To recall how it felt, being cared for and loved, that’s the point, that’s our message.  Don’t leave our mental (and physical) health in the hands of just anyone, make it a priority.

Self-Care.  Important!  That tiny, younger version of ourselves deserves nothing but the best.

Our Divine Life

Giving and receiving, we’re full into the swing of it now.  But, we need to remember our most basic principles.  It’s important, in order for us to move forward positively, and with assurance.

Yes, our day-to-day is about lessons.  It is also very much about abundance, about gratitude, and about bountiful goodness.  What I heard this morning before I even got out of bed brings that point home.

             Reaching for a state of . . . . .

Graciousness.

When we actively and with full intention behave in a loving, generous, and kind manner, we are, in fact, becoming more generous, becoming kinder, and building a less negative mindset.

This message is a gift that we may bring along with us out into the world.  To share, to hold close, to squeeze in our hand when we feel overwhelmed or in need of boost.

And on our card altar right now, I was directed to my working deck.  This one flipped in the Challenger position.  Sometimes referred to as the protection pose.

Wands, Rods, Staves.  Eventually, in our poker playing stacks, Clubs.  All represent new life.  Beginnings.  Bursts of brilliance.  That always-possible new start.

The potential is still present, but are we?  Have we not taken advantage of some opportunity?  Have we been unbending?  When we look for reasons of why we aren’t going as far or as fast as maybe WE would like, possibly it’s not about us.

Could we be impatient and maybe not see all of our blessings, when they are RIGHT HERE?!

There’s such a thing as Divine Timing (shit happens when it has to happen).  It’s best to always remember, we are so not in charge of that timeless time-piece.  Ever.  Not even a little bit.

In order to help turn this card around, harness more of that universal energy, we need only sit in Grace.  Sit in stillness*.  Look within.  Don’t forget, when ever we are, THAT is the proper minute; where ever we are, THAT is sacred space.

*I am aware that many folks live in places/situations where “stillness” is not an easy nor available option.  Grab some the best you can.  Take a set of headphones and a phone or MP3 player (or hell, an old WalkMan if that’s all you can find) crank up whatever music is healing to you, and get behind a door.  In a shed, a bathroom, a parking lot, any spot you can secure for a few precious moments.  Take that time, find that space.  We’re all worth it.
