Party of One, Plus All

Nearly every afternoon I come across (or am directed to) a new person/social media account/ground-breaking pioneer group who is speaking up and making a difference.

It’s these individuals and their strength where I see the hope in our future.

Our tomorrows depend on all of us doing our small part.  We know that one person can’t manage it alone.  But one person, plus one more person, plus another, plus more, together with many, can (and have, and will again) make an enormous difference.

This is why the Universe wants us to remember how valuable we are

one at a time.

Similar to how we survive when the challenges feel too heavy, when our circumstances seem overwhelming, when we struggle.  To stay afloat, we strip life down to basics, so that we are then able to face our next new day.

One minute, we can make.  One hour, we’re alright.  One small manageable portion at a time is a way to move forward when we absolutely think everything is impossible.

As just one person, we join with just one more person.  Eventually a group has formed.  Together, we change what does not work.  Together, we bring a new awareness.  Together, we create a better place to live.

Individual Implementation

As we travel this life, we see the sights, we gather our stories, and we (hopefully) learn some lessons.  The longer we live, wearing these bodies, the more we are able to understand about why we’re here and what we’re doing.

At least, that’s the plan (as in, our blueprint, the one we crafted for ourselves).

When we’re at Home on the Other Side, setting up these adventures, we have all the knowledge of the Universe at our fingertips.  We have our singular journey and our collective presence.  But when we come down here to LIVE it, the entirety of it all can feel like it’s been forgotten.

In reality, all of that greatness and all of those answers, have merely been stored for later access.

             Access It

is our message right now.  We are being advised to go after those squirreled away memories, teachings, and that soul-deep understanding.  We are being asked to open up our storage unit of awareness, flip open the book of records, harvest from the tree of life.

Whether we meditate, pray, walk near the water, stare into the flames – whether we dream, drum, hum, or chant.   Whatever is our tool, our vehicle to get there, we are being directed to open that crate, hop on board.

The scope of this wisdom is immeasurable.  Whatever is our situation, current issue, or complaint, we can find a solution.  The task is simple, but not always easy.

But we must, we need to look within.  We need to listen.  We have to tune in, today.  Gathering this, and then sharing it, that’s our job at this very moment.

For me, personally, as I’ve shared before, I like a YouTube guided meditation.  (Something voiced with a foreign accent is especially soothing.)  Or, sitting on a cloudy and overcast beach with my feet in the cold sand as waves roll up, crashing loudly.  Often just a view of some falling water can calm me and help me to feel the earth’s voice, hear the songs of the sky.

Whatever it is that centers you, calls out to you, do that.  Sit with it, bathe in it, allow it to flow over and through you.  Heal from it.  And then . . . . . share the Joy, the knowledge, and the lovingkindness.

This is what I’m currently listening to.  It’s beautiful, and has exactly the right feel.

One Of A Kind

We have spoken several times here about how we are Human Beings, not Human Doings.  But it was brought to my attention (again) today, so I guess we’re revisiting.  Which is good, this time it’s a little different.

There is an enormously powerful and positive movement right now about the acceptability of us just occupying our skins, our space, our bodies.  How, no matter the size nor shape, we have value and we have agency.  No one should be able to say that we, as a person, need to change, need to alter, because of the standards of another.

If we behave negatively, cause harm?  Of course we should be reprimanded immediately, and called to address/correct our actions; be held accountable.  But to merely carry out our lives, move about in the world?  No, we don’t have to answer to anyone.

To be our best selves, our most human, we must live in a true and genuine way.  To live our best lives, to go forward and follow the path we set before we arrived here and donned our physical bodies, we must understand that we don’t owe anyone anything.

To be the best version of ourselves, we need only direct ourselves to our

Life Purpose.

At this moment in time, on our planet, in our culture, across the globe, there are warriors who are fighting the battle against injustice and ignorance.  More so now than there have ever been before.

These sacred souls are primarily the Average Jane and Average Joe.  They are mostly not someone rich nor famous nor even considered all that “special” by mainstream media.  But, they have chosen to enrich all of our lives by doing the difficult work.

I would bet that everyone reading this has come across one or more of them.  They are here amongst us, and they are us.  They are often the quiet prophets, but they are also the outspoken rally leaders.

They are BEING their most human self by trying to make us all better.  What we can learn from them, and what we can do to help, is to begin in a silent and intentional way.  Sitting with our stillness will open up answers we had trouble hearing due to all of the day-to-day noise and garbage.

When we occupy our time and mind with positivity, grace, lovingkindness, good people, and that which brings joy, we are bettering the whole.  We are being our best human selves.

We don’t always have to “do” – this is a time for us to “be” – it is a time for us to support and to assist.  We can put that into practice, we can BE our best self, for the higher and greater good of all, from our own small corner of the world, sending healing to one and all, being the foundation for our improved future.

HERE is a perfect example of how we can all participate.

Likelihood and Probability

Have you ever seen a squirrel in your blackberry bushes?  I hadn’t either, not until earlier this week.  It was surprising.  But, maybe, it shouldn’t have been.

We, as a species, go places where humans couldn’t possibly survive, and yet they do.  We, as active animals, perform tasks our bodies maybe weren’t even designed to accomplish, and yet we do.  There are so many ways we can flourish,  Uncountable ways.

Here’s what the Universe is asking us to understand right now:

things are not always as expected.

Like my bushy-tailed neighbor in the berry shrub, she was simply just doing what came naturally, looking for food.  Ta da, there is was!  I’m the one who was caught off-guard.

Our life paths often take us in directions we not only weren’t planning on going, but didn’t even realize existed.  This journey, it’s like that.  One day we’re out hunting for nuts, and, out of nowhere, there’s free fruit!

What it’s not like?  The movies, internet, TV, or as books tell us.  It can be so much more, and if we’re in a negative place mentally, it can seem like so much less.

That’s the point of this message, it’s not what we “expect” because we don’t have a clue as to what/where/how much we could even accomplish.  It’s never too late to head down any avenue we like, or wander along a new road we may feel the interest in exploring.

What is “expected” of us is rarely where our heart directs us.  And it is rarely what will make us happy.

In many belief systems, we are encouraged to seek out calm and loving attitudes.  And yet the media bombards us with the constant inadequacy that we cannot be satisfied unless we acquire All The Things, or appear a certain way.  Where do we find our balance?

Right now, it seems, our key is to let go of expectations.  Those tossed over us by our culture (and the big businesses who are running so much of it), and those ideas we had about, and for, ourselves which maybe weren’t even ours in the first place.

What I hear is, it’s time now to be our own unique and individual selves.  Being in our skin, enjoying our surroundings, loving those close to us, appreciating our many blessings.  Allowing those unnecessary expectations to slip away.  That seems like a terrific spot to be in.

Continued Observations In Grace

As the overwhelming negativity continues everywhere we turn (I recently heard someone say the ocean is dead, why even try), as we approach a very hope-filled, jubilant (but traditionally controversial) weekend, I try my best to stay over on the positive side.  I am actively practicing my gratitude.

In fact, I am practicing this reframed alternative mindset now, as I jot my notes in the rattiest old laundry-mat* I’ve had the pleasure of visiting in several decades.  My reality is this: machines continue to fail, our internet is fucking worthless, people disappoint, and neighbors kill trees.

I don’t give up (like I used to ….. as much).  Instead, now I

rise above.

It’s been challenging, let me just say.  Things aren’t going as I thought they would, nor even, as I’d like them to.  The difference?  My attitude.

I understand more/better/some bits on a deeper level.  My observations are farther reaching.  My soul-sensibility is heightened.  Much of the garbage is rolling off, away from me, so that the stench is not nearly as noticeable as it once was.

Do I still take most things personally?  Pretty much on the regular.  I am a “highly sensitive” individual, so I truly can’t help that aspect of my personality.  My only way around this emotional reaction is to sit with all the feelings.  Hold them, allow them to find the space they need.  Then, I (try!) to release them, so they can fly off to wherever is their next destination.

This idea of our own uplifted perception is not even close to new (and definitely not mine), it is the basis of ancient religions and spiritual paths across the world.  It is entirely simple, but does take some getting used to.  It does take us a while to live it.  (Our entire life, basically.)

Very similar to how I have decided to cope with the upcoming warm weather, I am rebranding it in this acceptance mode.  I can’t stop it, but I can look forward to it being over.   Every hot day I suffer through, brings me one blessed step closer to fall, and the welcome cool once again.

when one door closes.....
A closed door always means there has to be an open window, someplace. It’s up to us to find it.

*I know that’s not how it’s spelled.  I just like it better this way.  This is me, finding joy in small ways.
