Narrative View

The idea that there is something better, something kinder, awaiting us after this long difficult slog is the hope I cling to.  Daily.  Hourly.  Our reality is challenging.  Our lessons can feel like such a struggle.

Fortunately we get breaks.  We have blessings.  There are moments of respite and joy.  Even if they are small, they are there.

We also have the gift of insight.  We have the capability to rephrase what we’re seeing and sensing.

It always takes longer than we thought it would,

is what I heard recently.  As if, time has no meaning… and in a sense.  It does not.  We invented the measuring system, and we invented the impatience of it.

As we continue our theme of last month, we see how our own impressions of where we thought we’d be, or what we thought we’d accomplish by a certain marker of time, might not be how this adventure is meant to play out.

When we stress or worry or fret over opportunities lost, years gone by, we initiate a state of grief which is as manufactured as the concept of linear time.  None of it is real.

What is true is that we will go Home.  We will make our own judgment of how well we treated others, how well we treated ourselves, how well we cared for our loved ones and the planet.  What we will NOT be contemplating is how much we earned, how many physical accomplishments we attained, nor any sort of corporate climbing/business advances.

Our impatience is created out of the false belief that getting “ahead” or doing more is of value.  It is not.  What matters is lovingkindness and compassion.  Now, more than ever before, those are the aspects of life here in these meat suits which must be looked at.  Which must be put before all else.

It is time to care.  About what’s important.  Now is when we must assess how we can alter our view of challenges, and make a turn, a switch, to see what is of value.  And maybe more importantly, what is not.

Attitudinal Accordance

While it is true that for quite some time now I’ve preached the gospel of Self-Care, it is equally true that from time to time I’ve continued to lapse into a state of judgey-ness.  (I’m not happy about this, so it needs to be addressed.)

We all know of its importance, of the value in caring for ourselves.  But are we all doing what we can?  And are we all noticing, in ourselves, when the need is most crucial?

Because, in the past month, if these events haven’t called for us to take care of ourselves and those closest to us, I don’t know what the fuck will.  We are all feeling at our very worst.  My hope is that we are also all being our kindest.

Here is what the Universe would like us to focus on, it’s what I’ve been hearing for days, what needs to be shared:

true appreciation.

Are we expressing gratitude for breathing deeply of clean fresh air?  Are we saying thank you to our bodies for carrying us through this shit-storm?  Are we showing appreciation, true and authentic appreciation to our loved ones who help bolster us up when we hit our lowest?

The way of peace is through our own attitude.  Yes, as we discussed last week, we must be aware and informed.  Yes, we must make a difference and change what is (so tragically) not working.

What is also a fact is that we must heal from within, we must honour our spirit and be good to ourselves.

When I went back to work full-time, and there were stretches of 11 or 13 days when I had to show up and just punch in, I became aware of how phenomenally important days off were to me.  I needed them in a new and profound way.

With the schedule I have now (four full days of work and two baby days), my one Me Time Tuesday has become even more valuable.  So, when I’m sick, and all I do is sleep through it . . . . .  well, it can seem like I’ve wasted the entire 24 hour period.

Not true, says my adjusted attitude, says my Choose Joy perception adjustment.  What I did with that day was take care of myself.  My physical body (apparently) required an enormous amount of bed rest.

I refuse to feel guilty, bad, or negative.  It is toxic.  And I no longer want to be poisoned.  No card has called out to me, no deck has directed me to draw.  What I have been lead to is this.  An image which is soul-soothing.  An image of serenity, even as we know it has taken enormous strength.

I hope you are able to weather this time and place.  I hope most of all, that you are well.  And if you need help, you are able to find it.

Another Kind of Day

We’ve never been a family who understood the TGIF mindset.  For generations we were the weekend and evening workers.

We covered all shifts, we were there when other folks needed time off for holidays with their loved ones.  It’s how we were raised, it’s what we instilled in our children.

So, it throws me off when I unintentionally end up with a Sunday off.  It also reminds me of how important it is to rest.

I mean, I know it.  I live for it.  I’m just not always able to do it.  To do it with intention.

All I have to share today is this:

take care.  Of yourself.

It’s okay to say “no” when you feel like a request is simply too much.  It’s fine to be selfish.  Because in truth, you are NOT.  You are caring for someone who is valuable and precious.  You are caring for You.

It can be ANY day, and it doesn’t have to be expensive or commercial or extravagant.  But do make it special.  For you.

perfection

This is perfection.  For me.  Please find something which speaks to you.  And pursue it.  Sit with it.  Be there.  Be You.

Additionally and Also, Plus

Remember our stewardship messages from Earth Day week?  Well, turns out, we’re not done there.

What I woke up with today was way colorful.  Just as Spring is springing itself silly all over the place right now, so too, is the Universe popping up to say “hey, pay attention!”

So Much More

Our Mother Earth needs us.  If only to notice and say a quick quiet prayer in passing.  We have to continue our caring attitude.  Starting right here at home.

We need to keep in mind that we attract what we focus on.  And currently too much aim is pointed in a negative direction.  Does this country (and planet) have to change?  Oh, hell yeah.

However, are we making those changes in the best way possible?  For our highest good?  For the good of us all?  I’m not so sure.

The way we’ve been going is clearly not working.  We have to change.  We have to do better.  We have to do more.  And we have to do it from a soul level.  In a sacred and lovingkindness sort of way.

And, according to our daily draw, we have to do it on our own. (Even though, ya know, we’re never really alone alone.)

solitude

“Solitude  ~  13  ~  Higher Self

Observation, Contemplation, Renewal, Listening

Your desire to seek solitude is appropriate at this time.  You’re being counseled by your Higher Self to retreat, and to renew your soul through quiet contemplation.

Your nervous system has been overstimulated, and you can’t absorb any more input from the outer world.   Step away and give yourself the necessary peace and time alone you require to revitalize your system.

In doing so, you will begin to sense, feel, and even hear the voice of your Higher Self, but only when you step into more natural surroundings.

Reconnect with nature in whatever way is practical, given your circumstances.  Fully open your heart to your Higher Self, even if you fear that you can’t make contact.

You are making contact.  Furthermore, your Higher Self asks you to take your time when contemplating your circumstances and considering your options.  Resist the temptation to yield to any sense of urgency.

There’s no emergency.  Your true direction will make itself known if you are patient.  Your Higher Self also alerts you to the fact that not all the necessary pieces of information to make the best decisions may be apparent yet.

Your Higher Self wisely counsels that sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is do nothing.  The message is to be quiet now, and wait.”

Safe, Cautious, and Caring

It has become a most fascinating way to wake up, this message-every-day phenomenon.  Now, nearing a full year since it began, I still don’t understand it entirely.  But, as you well know, I also don’t question it.

As long as they keep arriving, I’ll keep sharing them.  Some mornings, the images and feelings are much more urgent than others.  Each one is distinct and individual.  Today’s falls on the “important” side.

Taking Care

As you ALSO know by now, I’m not exactly Sally Safety.  (Bike riding with no shoes is merely the latest incarnation.)  However, that doesn’t mean I’m not aware of my surroundings, or possible dangers.  Nor does it mean that I am careless.

We’ve discussed situational awareness here before, and this is similar.  When we are alert, we are better able to understand what is happening, what is taking place, both within and without.  Which also helps us to stay knowledgeable.

But this message talks, too, of Self-Care.  Taking Care is another way of saying CareGiver*, so today we won’t be having a daily draw.  Instead, I’m sharing my other calendar page for the month.  Because when we start with caring for our selves, we are also caring for our Mother.

*The Giving and Taking being a fair energy exchange.

"I appreciate the beautiful world I live in."
I appreciate the beautiful world I live in.

Along the side we have this, from the 2014 version of “You Can Heal Your Life”:

“I love this marvelous planet.

The earth is a wise and loving mother.  She provides everything we could ever need.  There is water, food, air, and companionship.  We have an infinite variety of animals, vegetation, birds, fish, and other natural wonders.

We have treated this planet very poorly, using up valuable resources.  If we continue, we will have no place to live.

I commit to lovingly taking care of and improving the quality of life in this world.  My thoughts are clear and loving and concerned.  I express random acts of kindness whenever I can.  It is my planet, and I help to make it a better place to live.

I imagine a peaceful planet, with a clean, healthy environment for all.  I see all the people on the planet opening their hearts and their minds and working together to create a world where it is safe for us to love each other.

It is possible, and it begins with me.”

Thank you, Louise Hay.  This is the perfect way to celebrate Earth Day.  (I apologize for the rhyme, it was unintentional, but also unavoidable.)
